Twitter widget

The new Twitter widget has 2 layouts: “Scrolling” and “Free Layout”. Scrolling means it will show textual tweets like a ticker, while free layout allows you to arrange the elements (message, date, user name, user picture and photo) on the widget space in any matter you like. You can even add each element more than once (or not use it).
When you added a Twitter in a free layout, you can double click the widget rectangle or click the right-most icon in the little floating panel which you can see on the widget itself. Doing so will open the free layout edit mode: a panel of 5 big icons on the top with a couple of some other elements. From that panel you can drag elements into the widget rectangle.
Like in every widget, the right pane holds the properties of the Twitter. You can see live preview, set the refresh rate (how many minutes will it wait till it goes to the server to look for new tweets), the user which you logged into Twitter with and finally: the query. The query is the most important thing in Twitter as this is how you filter the tweets which you want to display. Example: typing #lego in the query will bring all recent tweets with the hashtag “lego”; typing from:thedude will bring all recent tweets twitted by a user called “thedude”.

Instagram widget – free layout

We already had the Instagram widget, but only in a simple layout. Now, when you add this widget, you can choose whether to have it in a simple layout (as before) or in a free layout. Free layout is the same like in the Twitter widget: it allows you to arrange the elements (message, date, user name, user picture and photo) on the widget space in any matter you like. You can even add each element more than once (or not use it).
When you added an Instagram widget in a free layout, you can double click the widget rectangle or click the right-most icon in the little floating panel which you can see on the widget itself. Doing so will open the free layout edit mode: a panel of 5 big icons on the top with a couple of some other elements. From that panel you can drag elements into the widget rectangle.
